Iran Sanctions To Be Eased Following Historic Geneva Agreement

As the six powers - the U.S., three European countries, Russia, and China - hope to strike a final comprehensive settlement of the Iranian nuclear dispute within six months, the West is likely to start easing sanctions on Iran in the coming months.

The breakthrough agreement in Geneva, which represents a first phase, allows for $7bn in frozen oil sails assets to return to Tehran in installments.

France's foreign minister, Laurent Fabius, said on Monday that EU ministers will discuss lifting partial sanctions against Tehran as early as December.

Western diplomats insist that the deal has been strutted to ensure that the sanctions relief can be reversed if Tehran does not abide by any parts of the agreement.
