Dunkin’ Donuts came out with a new type of coffee on Nov. 4 – the "Red Velvet" latte.

This seasonal drink, along side the also new salted caramel hot chocolate, is part of Dunkin’ Donuts’ holiday offerings. The new beverages will join returning seasonal favorites, like the "Peppermint Mocha" and "Holiday Star" donut. According to the Daily Meal, the "Red Velvet" latte should taste just like the red velvet donut.

Red velvet enthusiasts on the West Coast will have to wait a while until they can enjoy the drink. 5,000 of Dunkin’ Donuts’ 10,000 locations are located in New York and New England, but in January the company announced that Dunkin’ Donuts will return to California in 2015. While the few Dunkin’ Donut shops located in California closed in 1990, a branch opened at Camp Pendleton military base near San Diego, where no civilians are allowed, in 2012.

Until 2015, west coasters can get their red velvet fix at other popular chains. Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf offers a seasonal red velvet hot cocoa. On their menu, Starbucks lacks any red velvet flavored drinks, but there’s always a secret menu. Consumers can custom order any Starbucks beverage, and many websites have tips for crafting the perfect made-to-order drink (including a red velvet Frappuccino). Peet’s Coffee and McDonald’s have yet to come out with red velvet flavored drinks.

Whether you’re in New York enjoying the new Red Velvet latte, or on the West Coast trying to imitate the sweet treat, get excited for the holidays with a seasonal drink.
