With Thanksgiving around the corner, a lot of you are probably slowly transitioning from your fall clothes into your comfy winter sweaters and boots. And with that, you are probably thinking about what to wear on Thanksgiving day: dress or pants? Boots or heels? Go casual or formal? Don't worry - we've got you covered.

Regardless of whether you are spending it with your family, going to meet your significant other's parents or feasting with your friends, the key is to be comfortable. You don't want to be consuming large amounts of food and feel uncomfortable in tight or revealing clothes. Below are some tips of what to wear on this amazing, yummy day.

Keep Your Audience in Mind: Your Family vs. Significant Other's Family

So you get to see your entire family, which may include people you haven't seen in a long time. While you don't really have anyone to "impress," per se, you want to look great in the dozens of family photos your uncle will be snapping. To stay comfortable yet look adorable, opt for leggings on the bottom, and a nice, fancy shirt or sweater on top. That way, you'll still feel comfortable come dessert time. You can easily dress up leggings with booties or heels since leggings look amazing with heels (and they'll make your legs look longer). Plus, wearing leggings will allow you to play with your younger cousins and help out in the kitchen without feeling too constrained.

Now, going to Thanksgiving dinner at your significant other's home is a different story. And there's a huge difference between meeting your significant other's family for the first time and spending a second Thanksgiving with them. If you are meeting them for the first time, you obviously should dress a little more formal - dress to impress. A cozy wool or cotton dress with tights and flats/boots is a perfect outfit to wear.

If this isn't your first time meeting the family, you can go a little more casual. Just be mindful of how formal the family's festivities are. Opt for neutral colors with cute embroidery or winter colors such as burgundy, maroon and dark green, and stay away from denim (too casual). Basically, think tea-party outfits instead of outfits you'd wear on a night out on the town with too much cleavage showing. You don't need your sweetheart's family seeing too much skin. Cute is key. If you are opting for a skirt, don't wear a tight one you would wear to a bar: flared skirts are in now, so try a cute wool pleated skirt

Plan Ahead for Activities

If you know you are going to play football, don't wear heels or a dress that will ride up. Opt for pants and flats that you don't mind getting scuffed up a bit. If you will be playing with your baby cousins, wear something you can sit on the floor comfortably with, without too much skin showing. Once again, stray away from deep necklines and tight or clingy clothing - your boyfriend's grandma (and probably your own) won't want to see every curve of your body. If you are spending time with a family other than your own, ask your friend or significant other how they usually celebrate Thanksgiving, and go from there.

Think Neutral

Keep make-up and hair natural - you don't need to impress with heavy eyeliner strokes and teased hair. Impress with your personality instead. Depending on your skin tone, opt for blush colors that look natural on your skin. For example, if you have olive skin, wear browns that just discreetly highlight your cheekbones. Go for a natural hairstyle, too - if you want it to look a little more groomed, go over it with a straightener or curling iron, but don't overdo your hair like you would if you were going out at night. This goes for your outfit choice, too. Don't go overboard: think comfy yet fashion-forward. You know the saying "wear what you would wear to impress your boyfriend's parents" - stick with that!

Here are some tips on how to do neutral eye make-up.

Timeless Is Perfect

You don't want to look back at old photos in 20 years and see yourself wearing an OK outfit that you put together last minute. Wear something that you would still think is cute a few years down the road. This is a once-a-year occasion, so wear something you have been dying to wear but haven't found an occasion for. Do you have a baby doll dress you bought, thinking it'd be great for a brunch but never got around to it? Wear it now. You can make almost any outfit work with the right accessories and shoes.

Here are some more outfit ideas that will hopefully give you some clues about what you could wear on turkey day. What will you be wearing this Thanksgiving?
