London police arrested a couple suspected of enslaving three women for more than 30 years -- an unprecedented length of time for modern domestic servitude, according to British officials.

Officials say the women were "highly traumatized" after being held captive in the couple's home for decades. The victims, who include a 69-year-old Malaysian woman, a 57-year-old Irish woman, and 30-year-old Briton, have been taken away and cared for by a charity.

According to CNN, Detective Inspector Kevin Hyland said the youngest victim "appears to have been in servitude for her entire life."

"We have launched an extensive investigation to establish the facts surrounding these very serious allegations," Hyland said. "We've established that all three women were held in this situation for at least 30 years. They did have some controlled freedom."
