If a milkshake brings all the boys to the yard and diamonds are a girl’s best friend, then Hollywood’s newest cocktail bar, The Power Room, will have all of Los Angeles raving.

The Powder Room soft opened on Nov. 14, but has its full released planned for Nov. 22. The Powder Room’s lush and luxurious interior is inspired by all the glamour associated with Hollywood; its lavish black marble bar and white snakeskin tools can only be matched by their drink menu.

The Powder Room’s award-winning mixologist Adrianna Biggs has created a $500 milkshake named “The Velvet Goldmine.” Though Biggs is still experimenting with the recipe, the milkshake is said to contain edible gold, premium Belgian chocolate, and premium spirits, and will be garnished with a Swarovski Nirvana Montana blue crystal ring you can take home as a souvenir. OK, Swarovski crystals aren’t exactly diamonds, but they’re definitely a close second.

According to managing partner John Arakaki, though the milkshake is just enough for one person, The Velvet Goldmine is a milkshake geared towards special occasion celebrants and is meant to be shared.

The Powder Room also offers other spiked milkshakes around the $13 range such as the Adam’s Apple Shake, which contains Jack Daniels blended with fresh cinnamon caramelized apples, nutmeg, cayenne pepper, and vanilla ice cream.

All of The Powder Room’s shakes will be made in St. Felix kitchen, and their menu will change seasonally. However, if The Velvet Goldmine truly becomes a hit with customers, Arakaki plans to continue selling it.
