From reactions to the now infamous VMA performance to the innumerable complaints concerning the slew of scandalous music videos released in the past few months, Miley Cyrus’s media presence is all but unavoidable.

Even so (as if the starlet needed more headlines bearing her name), it is now trendy for other musicians – first Sinéad O’Connor and now indie rocker Sufjan Stevens – to publish public letters to Miley via the internet.

In this newest letter posted on his Tumblr page, Sufjan Stevens lightheartedly critiques the twenty-year-old pop star’s song “#GetItRight” for its grammatical shortcomings while simultaneously praising Miley for the catchiness of the song (and of the current state of her career).

Markedly different from the other public letters addressed to Miley, this letter is playful and even approving despite the problematic verb usage and tense.

In fact, Stevens’s use of humor throughout his post satirizes the other letters, which focus on harshly condemning the young star, rather than perpetuating the list of complaints against her – offering a fresh perspective on the phenomenon that is Miley Cyrus.
