Ten Halloween Themed Events In Los Angeles

As Halloween creeps upon us, getting into the spirit is a must. These spooky activities across Los Angeles County are sure to be a treat for readers of any age.  

1. Boo at the L.A. Zoo

Celebrate Halloween early at the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens. Children will be able to trick-or-treat while visiting animals that roam the zoo. There will be pumpkin carving, arts and crafts, and scary stories.  This event will occur on Oct. 26 thru the 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

2. Maliboooo Country Mart

This is a fun event for kids to get into the Halloween spirit. On Halloween day, there will be a contest for the best Halloween costume and trick or treating with participating stores. The winning child will receive a gift certificate. The fun starts at 4 p.m., with the children's costume contest kicking off at 6 p.m. at Jester fountain.

3. Long Beach Zombie Walk

Ever dream of walking amongst zombies? The walking dead will creep and crawl around Long Beach for its annual Zombie Walk. Participate by channeling your inner zombie and dressing in full-fledged zombie attire. The event will occur on Halloween and is $15 to participate. Children 12 and under are free.

4. West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval

For those who love putting on a disguise, come see the most over the top costumes at the West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval. This event brings in around 500,000 people every year on Halloween night. It goes from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. and is located along Santa Monica Blvd. from Doheny Drive to La Cienega.

5. Los Angles Haunted Hayride 

Experience a one of a kind adventure on a haunted hayride in Griffith Park. Terrifying zombies, wicked villains, and mad monsters will all accompany you along this scary journey. This event costs $25 will continue through Halloween.

6. Scarium of the Pacific

Take the whole family out for a fright filled day at the Aquarium of the Pacific on Oct. 26 or 27. There will be a costume contest, underwater pumpkin carving, scary stories, and face painting.

7. Old town Haunt

Built in the 1880’s, The Union Savings Bank Building in Old Town Pasadena will hold its annual haunted house in the bank’s basement. It is going on until Nov. 1.

8. Eek at the Greek 

On Oct. 27, enjoy classic performances from The Glen and Nederlander Concerts at the Greek Theater. Performances will include, “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”, Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Tell-take Heart”, and “Night on Bald Mountain”. There will also be trick-or-treating for children and a costume contest.

9. Haute Dog Howl’oween Parade 

Dress in matching costumes with your dog and walk in the parade put on by Belmont Shore Events. It will be held in Marina Vista Park, Long Beach. 500 costumed dogs are expected to walk in this parade. This event will happen on Oct. 27 at 2:30 p.m.

10. Pumpkin Race

Located on Manhattan Beach Pier, children will have a chance to race their very own racecars made out of pumpkins. Pumpkin racecar kits will be available for purchase at the pier. This event will be held on Oct. 27 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
