Sunday Funday by Bloomingdales & Trojans Preventing Cancer

This Sunday, Trojans Preventing Cancer in Community worked with Bloomingdale’s to host an event for breast cancer awareness.  Through fun and games, great giveaways, and of course, shopping- TPCC and Bloomingdales were able to raise money for the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Care Center.

The day included (but was not limited to):

  • free manicures
  • free makeovers from DIOR, MAC and Chanel
  • a photo booth
  • popcorn machines
  • sweet treats
  • a DJ
  • fashion giveaways
  • shopping (with 25 dollars off every 100 spent… wow!)

From 3-6pm, participants were not only able to have a rompin’ good time, but got to learn about breast cancer awareness, education and prevention.

THERE WAS EVEN A BUS TO-AND-FROM THE EVENT THAT LEFT FROM 28TH & UNIVERSITY FOR 1 DOLLAR.

Yes, that’s right folks, $1.

This Sunday was essentially the most ideal shopping/eating/dancing/learning/fundraising activity. Ever.

Now you’re probably asking yourself: What in the world is TPCC??  And how do I become involved??

Luckily I can assist you with both of those questions:

Trojans Preventing Cancer in the Community is a USC organization (Fight On!) that works to promote education and prevention of cancer in at-risk LA communities.  TPCC hopes to empower people through knowledge and resources, lowering the rate of cancer mortality.   They also promote early detection, screening and the improvement of every lifestyles in order to live healthier lives.

Beyond Sunday Funday, TPCC also conducts informative high school seminars and homeless shelter seminars, as well as breast cancer prevention in Jewish women seminars.  They also work with the USC Cancer Center in order be more informed about upcoming treatments and programs.

To get involved with TPCC (or at least find out more about their awesome events) visit their webpage.

And just in case you’d like to get a better idea of the event to prep for next year, here’s last years video:
