1. What are the top issues facing Los Angeles, and why?
Corruption in government, the people in the government are not allocating our resources in a meaningful manner. For example, our education systems are the worst in the country and the funding keeps getting cut, but there are many things that our government, especially since California is one of the wealthiest states in the country and we have the worst economy. So I don't think our government is doing us right.
2. What should Mayor Garcetti do to address your top priorities?
He could actually give money to our schools, pay our teachers more, so that they have more of an incentive and support to do better in their classrooms. Put more teachers in our classrooms so that they're not understaffed.
3. Did you vote in the May election. Who did you support?
No, I didn't vote, I am actually really bad about politics, I mean I follow national politics more than local politics. So I didn't really support either of the candidates.
4. What would you say the biggest problem is with education as it is right now?
I think that there are all these other symptoms that can be attributed to our lack of focus on education for our children. And then when they get older and they don't know how to be productive members of society and then we blame them. But they are doing what their education has taught them.
We could have a lot less problems overall if we just focused on our schools and preparing our kids better for everything they face and making sure they have the food and supplies they need for school.
Instead of educating people when they're younger to be good members of society, we're not giving them the tools and then we're punishing them for not having those tools when they get older.
