What are the top issues facing Los Angeles, and why?
"The homeless. Out of all the issues, I think that's the biggest. There seems to be a concentrated amount of poverty in L.A. compared to other parts of the state... or the country."
What do you think should be done about homelessness?
"The city should provide programs to help homeless people re-enter the work force. So they can slowly become independent again. So they're not trapped living on the streets... It's really a shame how many homeless people there are here, especially downtown."
What could Mayor Garcetti do to address your top priorities?
"My top priorities? Well, I think he should make more of an effort to reach out to younger people. A lot of politicians ignore the needs of the next generation. And that's where they often fail. And because they ignore the youth, the youth ignore them. And what good does that do?"
What do you think are the needs of the next generation?
"Well, [the mayor] should address the rising cost of tuition and the job market. It's one thing creating jobs for people who are unemployed now. But what about making sure there will be jobs for those graduating this year and on. Otherwise, it'll just be a cycle."
Did you vote in the May election? Who did you support?
"No. I just moved to L.A. a couple months ago... I'm from southern California, but I didn't really inform myself on the L.A. elections."
