The Boston Red Sox smashed the Detroit Tigers in the American League Championships to secure a place in the 2013 World Series where they will face the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Sox took home the Game 6 victory, 5-2. The game changed in the seventh inning, when Boston was down by one run. Shane Victorino hit his second grand slam of his postseason career off of relief pitcher Jose Veras.

This World Series will be a rematch of 2004, when Boston broke the alleged Curse of the Bambino that had plagued the team since they sold Babe Ruth to the Yankees in 1919.

The Series will begin at Fenway Park on Wednesday.
