On today's episode of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," Miley Cyrus finally opens up to Ellen about her breakup with fiancé Liam Hemsworth. The pair split back in September, but Miley has avoided discussing it until now to avoid it "overshadowing" the release of her new album "Bangerz."

Ellen awkwardly opens the topic for discussion with a clip of last November's "engagement party" that she threw for Miley on the show. "I want my money back," Ellen playfully mentions. Miley jokingly adds, "I should've kept one of those dude's numbers, it would've come in handy now."

On the topic of the breakup, the "Wrecking Ball" artist says, "I think people spend more time actually thinking about it than I really do. I just believe when a chapter is done you have to close it and start that new one. That's kind of where I am right now," she explained. "I felt like I have so much to be thankful for at this time that my energy hasn't really been focused on that."

All of her energy has been focused on her new album "Bangerz," which she mentions to Ellen is a reflection of her relationship with Hemsworth and her personal life. She says, "until I really listened to [my album] now that it's done and I have like my physical copy and I put it in my car. I'm like, ‘This is really like telling a story.' I think I knew more intuitively where my life was going then I actually thought I did at the time."

Miley hasn't been in contact with Hemsworth lately, but she makes it clear that she is happy to be alone and wants to focus on herself for the time being, stating, "I want to be really clear and determined with everything I'm doing in my life right now, and I have been. I keep saying I'm the happiest I've ever been and that's not even a dig. That's just me, because I really am genuinely happy finally with myself, which I think sometimes it takes you separating yourself from someone else to really be happy with who you are. I've never been able to just be alone, and I'm obsessed with being alone and like hearing my thoughts."

Throughout the interview, Miley seemed to show sincerity and even maturity in everything she said. Even with all of the controversy over how the artist is living her life, her behavior is extremely intentional and is a reflection of her growth in the industry. "Bangerz" is currently #1 on iTunes as a result of her choices, which definitely shows us that even with seemingly "wild" behavior and a tough split from her fiancé, Miley Cyrus knows what she's doing.
