Miley Cyrus Goes Political With Government Shutdown: 'We Did Stop"
Instead of red cups and sweaty bodies, Miley Cyrus sang of Red states, healthcare, and the recent government shutdown.
On this saturday's episode of Saturday Night Live, Cyrus joined other SNL comedians in mocking the government shutdown in Washington through the song "We Did Stop (The Government)", a parody from her original song "We Can't Stop".
The video- with plenty of twerking, dancing elephants (instead of teddy bears), and other notable scenes from "We Can't Stop"- satirized the Republican Party as party-hard politicians who have their way during the recent government shutdown. Cyrus, clad in blazers, bra, and booty shorts, played the role of GOP member Michelle Bachman, while SNL's Taran Killam played the role of GOP Speaker John Boehner wearing only a tight, white tank and tighty whities.
Cyrus also hosted the SNL episode, performing some of her newest songs including "Wrecking Ball" and an acoustic version of "We Can't Stop".
It's no surprise that the SNL would focus their attention to the controversies of the government-- and Cyrus' equally-debated music video pulls through to ridicule and blame the GOP for the blunder occurring in Washington.
