Gentlemen. Despite your previous thoughts on the world of fashion (and your place within it), let me introduce to you an occurrence that, well, occurred this week’s time. On Monday and Tuesday (October 14-15), men’s fashion hit the runways of Los Angeles.

It was called “Men’s Fashion Week Los Angeles”, or MFWLA. The two-day show currently takes place twice a year, showcasing many up-and-coming designers from the region. The following 2014 Spring/Summer collections earned our admiration this year:

It's the finer things in life...

Accessories: The Finer Things (Exhibit Showroom)
These unique socks wowed with their up-to-date, young patterns, which drag the viewer’s eye down the wardrobe to the shoes. Plus, everyone loves fun socks!

Neckware: Pocket Square Clothing (Exhibit Showroom)
With their floral patterned, subdued designs, these skinny (under 3.5 inches wide) ties and bows compliment and add a new dimension to the modern-day slim fit suit.

Footwear: The Left Shoe Company (Exhibit Showroom)
While Vlado Footwear was the main runway event, this pop-up showroom stole the show with their classic and sleek designs. They may even revolutionize the custom shoe industry, too. Check out their process with the link above.

Formalwear: Krammer & Stoudt (Runway)
Who doesn’t love spring pastels? K&S shined with their dull (yet bold) colors that showcased their casual and tailored suits.

Casualwear: Control Sector/ F.R.E.D (Runway)
While, as a whole, MFWLA's casualwear left a lot to be desired, these two brands brought unique T-shirt logos and some off-the-wall designs.
While Men’s Fashion Week LA is nowhere near the height of New York, London, or Milan Fashion Week, their steady improvement shows a promising future. And within 3-4 seasons, MFWLA plans to move to a full-week schedule to rival these powerhouse shows.
