Capitol police officials have issued an all clear after gunshots near Capitol Hill resulted in a lockdown of the Capitol Building, Supreme Court, and surrounding offices on Thursday afternoon.

CNN reports that the incident began when a woman attempted to ram through a barricade near the White House with her car, leading to a chase with several police cars in pursuit. The chase ended near the Hart Senate Office Building, located a block away from the Supreme Court. Shots were fired and at least one officer was injured, according to police reports.

An audio message was broadcast to Capitol offices for all employees to take shelter in their current location and to stay away from external doors and windows. Police ordered all people outside to move into the nearest building.

Reports say that a child may have been with the suspect in the backseat of the car. Capitol Police Chief Kim Dine says that the incident appears to be isolated and that no connections to terrorism have been made. There are reports that the suspect was wounded during the gunfight, but police have not confirmed her condition.

House and Senate sessions concerning the government shutdown were suspended during the lockdown but have since restarted.
