Fashion District Resident Cites Homelessness As Biggest Issue In L.A.
Neighborhood: Fashion District LA
Job: Video Game Designer
Age: 42
What are the top issues facing Los Angeles, and why?
Probably homelessness. There are an awful lot of homeless people downtown and a lot, I don’t know if they’re dangerous, but they don’t seem like they should be out on their own. Plus I’ve heard there have been a lot of issues with even out-of-area hospitals – mental hospitals and things like that.
(What kind of issues?)
They bring their patients here and dump them because of the services downtown, because there are a lot of missions and things like that, and sometimes they come from out of state. I was reading in the L.A. Times about how there was a Las Vegas hospital that was fined because they were bussing their patients out
What could Mayor Garcetti do to address your top priorities?
Try and get these folks a job. Trying to get them housing is always a great start. Trying to make sure that folks from out of the area aren’t brought here against their will or otherwise. So that probably helps at least keeping the L.A. homeless down to the folks who are actually from here.”
Did you vote in the May election?
No. I didn’t know it was going on, honestly.
