What better way to get into the Halloween spirit than to be scared senseless by  ghouls, bloodied zombies or a masked, chainsaw-wielding psychopath?

Knott’s Berry Farm just turned scary and has all of the above and more in its haunted mazes and scary roller coasters. The amusement park, now appropriately going by Knott's "Scary" Farm, showcases its usual attractions, but with a spooky twist. Those faint of heart, beware.

The park is divided into various sections, each with its own creepy “Atmosfear.” Different areas include the “Gypsy Camp,” “Ghost Town,” “Carnevil,” and many more. Crawling with monsters that could pop out at any given moment, park visitors must always keep their guard up while wandering the theme park grounds. Oftentimes guests will hear a growl or chilling shriek of laughter, followed by terrified screams of the victims.

Many of the areas are clouded by a thick, colored smoke, concealing the costumed monsters from view, which you can imagine, does not do much for the nerves. Many cling to one another, constantly on the look-out for potential scarers.

If the monsters don’t scare you, the haunted mazes will. The park features bone-chilling Halloween themed horror houses, such as “Pinocchio Unstrung,” “Gunslinger’s Grave,” and “Uncle Willy’s Slaughter House,”  teeming with disturbing visual images, sounds effects, and stationed scarers. Those who consider themselves brave enough (and meet the age requirement) test their courage as they walk through winding paths and corridors, experiencing a series of scary encounters.

When not screaming in horror, park visitors are screaming with delight on one of Knott’s haunted roller coasters. From the Boomerang to the Sierra Sidewinder, these rides offer both a fun and spooky thrill for people of all ages. The original coasters are decked out with disturbing decor and neon color schemes. It’s not uncommon to find a random corpse accompanying the ride or a splatter of blood staining the seat belt.

The park puts on a multitude of sideshows and venues for entertainment. Music groups such as the “Blood Drums” perform a chilling percussion number to audiences, holding mini concerts all over the theme park grounds. After excessive screaming, wary individuals in need of a laugh flock to Knott’s “Scary” Farm’s presentation of “The Hanging-A Gothic Tale,” where zombies, vampires and other horror characters star in the theater production.

Knott’s "Scary" Farm promises a night full of scares and thrills, with its launch of new Halloween-themed attractions, shows and other scream-inducing spectacles. Lionhearted or lily-livered, park visitors can expect a Halloween experience they won’t forget.

Select nights are from Sept. 26 to Nov. 2., and tickets are $38 for single admission. Buy them here or visit Knott's Berry Farm's website for more information.
