If you’ve been paying attention the iTunes album chart, you’re probably already familiar with the name Foxes.

Louisa Rose Allen – also known by her stage name, Foxes – gradually made her way onto the music scene from her hometown in the U.K. She’s widely recognized as the vocalist in Zedd’s hit single “Clarity”, but she’s ready to showcase her individual talent following the anticipated release of her debut album, “Glorious.”

Topping Katy Perry and Arctic Monkeys for the #1 spot in the U.K., Foxes connects with her fans on a personal level through her perfectly melodic voice and emotionally relatable lyrics that easily find its way deep into your soul.

Neon Tommy got the privilege of briefly speaking with the English singer-songwriter over the phone on Thursday. She gave us the inside scoop on her songwriting, her favorite artists, collaborations, and her rise to fame leading the release of her new album.

On your website you talked about how the name “Foxes” came from a dream your mother had. How come you didn’t just stick with your original name?

The thing is, you know Lily Rose Allen? Lily Allen? I mean she has the same name as me cause I’m Louisa Rose Allen. I’ve actually already been confused with her sister so I thought that name would have made it even more confusing.

Do you have a particular relationship with Lily Allen or was this just a coincidence?

No, no it was a complete coincidence.

Are you happy that you made the change?

I’m really happy with Foxes. I really like the ambiguousness of it because it doesn’t say too much. For me, it’s more about the music and not the artist, which I quite like.

How do you feel when fans are singing along with you to your lyrics?

It feels absolutely incredible. To see that sort of happening, I mean I really can’t describe it. It’s really other worldly because I feel like someone’s got like rent-a-crowd or something.

It’s really crazy and I still can’t quite believe that people are connecting to me and knowing the lyrics. It’s magical, it really is.

Do you ever listen to your own music?

Haha you know what? I actually don’t!

I think for me, I make a song and then I have to not listen to it for about a month. I have to step away from it because I think I get way too involved in the song and I end up not being able to hear it anymore for what it is. It kind of becomes such a blurred vision so I think I have to step away from it.

I think it’d be weird as well if I was walking around listening to my own music!

What’s the limit to how personal you get when writing your own lyrics?

All my lyrics are about experiences I’ve had and they’re all deeply personal. It’s quite weird because it’s basically a diary and it’s very honest.

It’s definitely putting yourself out there, which is quite a scary thing sometimes. I find it the best way to create music because it’s the most rewarding as well when people can relate to something you’ve been through and you’ve written from a real place. It’s definitely special that way.

Do you write all your lyrics?

Yea, yea – I write all my lyrics. They’re basically just a diary of things that’s happened to me.

You’ve gained even more fame than before through Zedd’s “Clarity” song – how did that come about?

Me and Zedd actually spoke about a year ago before this happened. I remember he heard “Youth” because it was just kind of floating on the internet and he wanted to do this “Clarity” song with someone so he was searching for a voice.

Once he had “Youth” he got in contact with me and we ended up Skyping and I actually didn’t even know who he was at the time. I didn’t even know who Gaga or any of these incredible people were. We just really got on and we worked really well together.

I didn’t know it was going to be this big, especially in America.

Was it any different working with Fall Out Boy than with Zedd?

Yea it was definitely different because they are two very different artists. It was equally as enjoyable and they’re two such incredible talented musicians.

For me, it was so overwhelming because I couldn’t believe these incredible people wanted to work with me. It was really nice for them to give me that opportunity - I felt really blessed.

You’re performing at the Troubadour in a few weeks – is there anything that you found strange or particularly interesting about Los Angeles as opposed to your hometown?

I’m obsessed with LA. I think LA is amazing. I think it’s very vintage, Melrose Trading Post, all of that stuff. I definitely am stoked to see it for the second time in a row, which is really nice!

You’re on your US tour until the end of November - do you plan on supporting any artists or attending any shows while you’re here?

I’m not sure if I would have any time but I would love to see shows! I’m not sure who’s playing but that’s actually a really good idea.

I really want to see Lorde at some point but I don’t know where she’s playing. If you have me on Twitter, you should suggest some shows to go to!

Of course, I’ve been your fan since before all the publicity with “Clarity” came out!

You know, it’s really special to hear that. It’s really nice because “Clarity” was so great but it’s definitely an element that can over shine. It’s really nice to hear that people remember the old stuff and have them there since the beginning – it’s really lovely to hear.

Definitely, I’ve heard songs like "Home" when it first came out.

Oh wow, that was ages ago!

Speaking of fans, who are you a fan of and what do you like to listen to when you’re on tour?

I’m definitely really into London Grammar at the moment. Haim are also really great. John Newman, who’s a really big artist here [in the UK]. Paper Crows are incredible, and Icona Pop.

Your new hit singles like “Youth” and “Beauty Queen” have left fans like me wanting more, any updates on when your album is going to be released?

The album’s going to be out late March and the title is “Glorious”, which is the last song that I wrote for the album.

It’s all really exciting especially since there’s a release date now because I’ve been waiting a really long time to release it. It’s great to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Foxes is touring the US during the entire month of November, making a stop at the Troubadour in Los Angeles on November 19th. If you haven’t bought your tickets already, get them here before they sell out!
