The Republican controlled House of Representatives passed the Senate bill that re-opens the government and increase the country's debt limit 285 to 144 (CNN reported). The vote happened with less than two hours before Oct. 17 (Eastern Time), the day Treasury Secretary Lew said the government would run out of cash.

CNN reported that the president may or may not sign the legislation tonight. The news organization reported that the Treasury Department will be unable to borrow money as of midnight Friday, so it is OK if it is not immediately signed.

Because the bill only increases the debt limit until Feb. 7, there is the chance this debate could happen all over again. President Obama said, "No," when asked, "Mr. President, isn't this going to happen all over again in a few months?"
