Every day of the government shutdown isn't just a ticking countdown to the October 17 deadline, when the U.S. will hit its debt ceiling limit.

It's one more day federal workers are without pay.

Neon Tommy reporters spoke with furloughed federal workers, from an employee of 40 years, who's been through shutdowns before, to the newly hired, unsure of what's next.
