With Charlie Hunnam dropping out of the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie, the world is left to speculate about who will replace him.

Here are a few suggestions for who could play Christian Grey:

Matt Bomer

Fans of the novel have thrown their support behind Matt Bomer to play the lead. A petition for Bomer to play Grey alongside Alexis Bledel as Anastasia Steele has gained over 87,000 backers. His dark hair and blue eyes apparently fit the description of Grey in the book and if it’s what the people want, why not?

Ian Somerhalder

If Bomer’s qualifications end at his appearance and the fact that he’s an actor, an actor with similar features would work too, right?

Henry Cavill

See above.

Garrett Hedlund

Hedlund was originally considered for the role, but passed because he couldn’t connect with the character. Maybe he’s found a few more shades of grey in his life since July.

Alex Pettyfer

Another common fan choice for the role, Pettyfer’s career could certainly use the boost. He hasn’t had a starring role in a movie since 2011’s “Beastly.”

Stephen Amell

Amell actually took a meeting to discuss the role earlier in the year. Many other actors have gone out of their way to avoid a connection to the movie, so if he’s interested, he’s already met the most important criteria.

Ryan Gosling

Let’s be honest. All the fans want to see is someone good looking.
