Candy Crush's tenure as the master of all Facebook apps may be under fire. An add-on for the social media site called Bitstrips has long surpassed 10 million users as of Oct. 24, nearly exactly a year since the company's launch.

The application offers users an interface for creating cartoons featuring personalized cartoon representations of themselves, and is built as to make it easy to incorporate the avatars of their Facebook friends who have also installed the app.

Bitstrips has self-reported that it was a boost of sign-ups among mobile users that pushed Bitstrips past the 10 million user mark, meaning the company's success reflects the increasingly dominant demographic of smartphone users when it comes to a platform's ability to sink or swim.
