At the 51st New York Film Festival, the film industry came to play. Here are eight of the best films showing this year.

"About Time"

“About Time” is a romantic comedy directed by Richard Curtis (director of "Love, Actually") star in this film about love and time travel. 

"All Is Lost"

“All is Lost” stars Robert Redford through his struggles to survive upon his sinking yacht in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Director: J. C. Chandor.

"Le-Weekend"

“Le-Weekend” is a comedy-drama starring Jim Broadbent and Lindsay Duncan as a middle-aged couple visiting Paris in hopes of rekindling their relationship. Director: Roger Mitchell.

"Club Sandwich"

“Club Sandwich” is a comedy about a 15 year-old boy (Lucio Gimenez Cacho Goded) and mother (Maria Renee Prudencia) on a vacation at a resort hotel. When a 16 year-old girl (Danae Reynaud Romero) shows up, sparks fly between the two teens.

"The Dog"

“The Dog” shows a portrait of John Wojtowicz, who attempted to hold up the Chase Manhattan branch in Brooklyn, NY on August 22, 1972. The 14 hour stand-of was prompted by Wojtowicz’ want to pay for a sex change for his wife, Ernie. Directors: Alison Berg & Frank Keraudran.

"Blue is the Warmest Color"

“Blue is the Warmest Color” stars Adèle Exarchopoulos as Adèle, a young woman who falls in love with an older woman played by Léa Seydoux. Director: Abdellatif Kechiche.

"Stray Dogs"

“Stray Dogs” tells the story of a single father (Tsai mainstay Lee Kang-sheng) trying to make a living on a traffic island. His children (Lu Yi-ching and Li Yi-cheng) are soon taken in by a woman in the supermarket (Chen Shiang-chyi). Director: Tsai Ming-liang.
