On weekends the last week of September until the first week of November, Los Angles residents can head over to Universal Studios to enjoy Halloween Horror Nights. The event adds mazes and scare zones to the theme park's normal attractions.

Here are seven tips to ensure the best experience possible at the event.

1. Get There Early

Universal Studio's website recommends getting there before 5 p.m. This is a bit early. Getting there right when the park opens at 7 p.m., however, is a wise move. The lines at this time are shorter than they are later in the night, so getting there when the park opens will ensure you are able to get into more mazes.

2. Ride The Terror Tram First

While the park does not close until 2 a.m., the terror tram line closes at 10:30 p.m. on Thursdays and Sundays and 11:45 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. This is the must-see attraction at the park, so make sure to get there early so you don't miss it.

3. Go On Normal Park Rides

The rides that are open year-round have a short wait. Most people flock to the mazes and terror tram, and forget that these rides are open too. Most of the time, the wait for these rides is under 30 minutes. To ensure an even shorter wait, use the single rider line. You will cut your wait time in half and still be with your friends in line, just not for the few minutes the actual ride takes.

4. Do Not Sit in the Front Row of Jurassic Park in the Dark

Jurassic Park in the Dark is a great ride. It has turns, drops and dinosaurs. It also has water, lots of water. The water ride will get everyone wet. If you are in the front row, however, you will get drenched. Since the event was at night, those who were in the front row were cold for a while after. Either sit in the back, or do this ride right before you leave the park.

5. Get a Front of Line Pass

Unlike the fast pass at Disneyland, the Front of Line Pass includes park admission, and the ability to cut the line once at each maze and attraction. There are only a limited number of these passes, and sales for them close at 6 p.m. the day of the event. Prices for the passes vary.

6. Pick Two Or Three Mazes To Walk Through

The lines for the mazes are long. While each maze has a different gimmick, there are also some similarities. Instead of trying all the mazes, pick two or three and only wait in line for those.

7. Don't Let People Know You're Scared

The performers in the mazes and scare zones, areas of the park where people dressed in costume try to scare you, can tell who is scared. The performers sometimes follow people they know are scared. The louder you scream, the more likely you are to be followed, or at having more people jump out at you. If you don't want the performers to come near you, pretend you aren't frightened.
