Whether or not fall has hit Southern California yet, knit styles are hitting the racks. Even with these scorching temperatures, Los Angeles style bloggers are making a point to feature hats, and more specifically the knit beanie, as a must-have accessory. Pairing knit beanies and hats with both sweaters and lighter clothing is becoming a fall trend to watch out for.
The most recent fashion week featured hats at many of the runway shows. Knit beanies in particular were seen in Kate Spade and Tracy Reese's latest lines. A knit beanie or floppy hat can both dress up and dress down your look, depending on how they are styled.
These runway styles feature the knit beanie in two very different ways, one paired with a head-to-toe look with the other serving as a pop of color. Glamour Magazine featured the knit beanie as an accessory to invest in this fall.
How to Wear Knit's this Fall, Rue La La
L.A. fashion blogger Sarah Peinado is in on the knit trend, pairing knit sweaters with white jeans, and strappy sandals on her blog
“Where’s My Other Shoe?" . Peinado, along with fashion blog
Rue La La, both feature oversized knits that are balanced by a lighter or white skinny jean or lightweight leggings. Rue La La also features knit beanies and knit scarves that they pair with the oversized knit sweaters and tunics that they are highlighting for this week’s fall trend. The knit beanie can be both casual, paired with jeans or shorts, or more feminine, paired with the oversized knit sweater as seen on Rue La La, with hair cascading from the beanie.
Casual Knit Sweater paired with Sequined Skirt, Cupcakes & Cashmere
L.A. blog
Cupcakes & Cashmere focuses on balance and proportions when showing the knit trend. While their focus is more on knit clothing, they show a few different ways to wear knit this fall. The blog shows oversized knit sweaters with sequined skirts and brightly colored knit overcoats.
Both the large overcoat and the sleek sequined skirt balance out the oversized knits in different ways, with the knit downplaying the sequins in the skirt and the larger knit overcoat balancing the equally bright, but chunky sweater underneath it.
Knit Beanie, DimePieceLA
Knit beanies can also be found as a street wear item with retailers like
DimePieceLA featuring slogans such as “Dimepiece” and “Ain’t No Wifey” on their beanies. This retailer has paired it’s beanies with both street wear basics and other pieces from their line that boast the same slogans.
Whether you are using your knit beanie to make a statement, keep your head warm, or as a cover-up for your bad hair day, knit beanies are finding their way onto the L.A. style scene.
