Every other week, writer Mara Hyman takes a look at the latest video creations coming from the music video industry. Here are her latest picks:

Ylvis - "The Fox"

Coined by some as "Norway's Gangnam Style," this viral sensation has taken YouTube by storm. The group Ylvis consists of two Norweigian talk show hosts who are likely the closest equivalent to SNL's The Lonely Island with their comedic videos. They've produced funny songs in the past, but this one has acquired them the most fame globally. Love it or hate it, you'll have the song stuck in your head all day. The two have surprisingly good voices, but it's impossible to take the song seriously when they call a fox their "guardian angel." According to them, a fox says "ring ding ding," "joff tchoff," "wha pa pow," and so much more.

In the video we see a bunch of people dressed as different animals, a choreographed dance sequence, and the Ylvis stars dressed as foxes prancing around. Throughout the chorus they also show an elderly man mirroring the noises as he reads a children's book to a small boy. Oh, and the two guys fly. Is this the strangest song you've ever seen or are you hooked?

Miley Cyrus - "Wrecking Ball"

I have to give her credit - coming away from the disaster that was the "We Can't Stop" music video and her VMA performance, this is a pretty decent second single. The song shows her vulnerable side and displays more of her musicality which has been rare more recently. It is quite obviously about her broken-off engagement with actor Liam Hemsworth and her inability to completely get over it.

The video however, is quite different. We see Miley naked on a wrecking ball, licking a hammer, and writhing about on top of rubble. While much more simple in nature compared to the "We Can't Stop" video, Miley literally bares it all for means of artistic expression. Out of controversy, the video has broken a VEVO record for the most views in 24 hours and has also received over 100 million views in a week. The only emotionally satisfying parts of the video are the up-close shots of Miley's face shedding a tear, because we as the viewer get to see a moment of somewhat sincere honesty, especially in the moments where she chokes up and can't get through the lines. Are you hoping for more songs like "Wrecking Ball" on her upcoming album or are you over the Miley hype?

Katy Perry - "Roar"

Having received some controversy for possibly copying Sara Bareilles' song "Brave" and being overplayed constantly on the radio, it's impossible to have not heard this song. It's extremely catchy and lighthearted with inspiring lyrics about standing up for oneself. It has a similar vibe to her other hit song "Firework" but is more peppy and staccato.

The video is pretty predictable and follows the theme of the song as Katy and a man get stranded in a jungle and, after he's eaten by a lion, she must fend for herself and eventually becomes ruler of the jungle. Visually the video is really intricate with a strong focus on detail and vivid colors to appear like a real jungle. The imagery with the fireflies is also interesting as they form into a lion's head. Are you a fan of this new side of Katy Perry?

G.R.L. - "Vacation"

If you saw "The Smurfs 2," you'll instantly recognize this song from the movie's soundtrack. The song is peppy bubblegum pop, which can be good or bad, however it's refreshing to see every member of this girl group singing which is quite rare. The group was brought together by Robin Antin, creator of the Pussycat Dolls, who was originally going to revive the group under the same name but decided to go a different route. The group even features USC's own Simone Battle who was a former contestant on "The X Factor USA."

The video shows the girls cleaning up after their guy roommates' mess after a party, until they kick them out and have their own party. It highlights their dancing ability which is pretty on point. At the end of the video we see a brief cameo from ex-Spice Girl Mel B who is likely there to give the new girl group her thumbs up of approval. Are you a fan of this group or are they too generic?

Eminem - "Berzerk"

Eminem's taking things back to basics with his latest, which definitely has an old school flavor. Instead of a standard synthesized beat, he raps over a rock riff with plenty of electric guitar, drums and record scratches. We really get to see his sense of humor on this track, especially in the verse where he name drops a bunch of celebrities.

The video fills the old school vibe of the song as we see the track played on an old casette at the beginning. Joined by producer Rick Rubin, the two jam out in front of a giant boom box that takes over the room. A lot of the effects in the video have a '90s flair, from the fuzzy video quality and squiggly lines on the screen to the harsh coloring in of the sky which looks like it was drawn on Kid Pix. Do you like Eminem's sense of humor?
