The last weekend of summer in Los Angeles ended in mayhem as a series of shooting and stabbing related incidents erupted across Los Angeles, killing 10 people, according to authorities.

The streak of chaos came as a surprise to officials since crime rates have decreased in the county. “For gosh sakes, what’s going on? Is it the last night of summer or what?” said Sgt. Rich Pena of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department told the Los Angeles Times in reaction to the violence.
