Staff Reporter

Every other week, Staff Reporter Jillian Morabito showcases some of the tunes you should be tuning in to. Here are her picks for your new Must Listen Playlist:

“Campfire” by Satellite Stories

“Waited all summer to get to you, campfire outside we fell,” sings lead vocalist Esa Mankinen. The brand new song by Satellite Stories goes on to sum up end of summer feelings perfectly. This Finnish indie band has a very Death Cab for Cutie/Two Door Cinema Club sound that works perfectly with the darker music video attached.

“Northern Lights” by Jaymes Young

With an astounding, crooning voice and original arrangements in his latest tapes, Jaymes Young should be on your radar. Listen to “Northern Lights,” which is just a sample of the talent he possesses. Young narrates about things of relevance, not trivial things like parying or twerking. Be sure to check out the rest of his album because it is actually available for free

“Closer Than This” by St. Lucia

A newcomer to the scene, St. Lucia certainly sounds like a throwback (with a lot of '80s synth). There’s already a lot of hype around the South African band. In fact, This past year, they opened for Ellie Goulding in L.A.

“Hunny Girl” by Pepper

The epitome of a “driving down PCH song,” Pepper released their new album this past week. With a reggae-rock sound, the band sounds better than ever.

“Stuck in a Moment” by U2

One of the most underrated U2 songs, this certainly deserves to be a throwback. The song is all about trying to escape the past and live in the present. Such a theme is very applicable when thinking of the new school year, our football team, etc. After all, “It’s just a moment, this time shall pass.”
