Obama Administration Sets New Limit On Carbon Emissions

The Environmental Protection Agency announced strict new limits on carbon emissions Friday, The Daily Beast reports.

EPA administrator Gina McCarthy said newly constructed power plants will have to restrict their carbon emissions to 1,100 pounds per megawatt per hour or less. The new limits should force the industry to develop new and potentially costly methods for capturing and storing carbon dioxide gas before it is released into the atmosphere.

New emissions standards were also issued for natural gas plants.
