The beginning of September kicks off with Architects of Air’s: Exxopolis, a showcase hosted by The Music Center and Grand Park in Downtown LA. With over 500 exhibitions in 37 countries around the world, Architects of Air aims to bring the viewer into a visual space of wonder through the use of luminous color.

Based off the original EGGOPOLIS luminarium, Exxopolis celebrates its 20th anniversary by creating this visual wonderland inspired by Islamic architecture and vivid colors. Once you step inside, you're greeted with a brief introduction on the history and origins of the space.

Walking further into the maze the you will arrive at the Cupola, the main dome inspired by the Chapter House of Southwell Minster. Once in the Cupola, the viewers are in awe at the vibrant colors and the geometric shapes that creates this entire luminaria. The ‘stained-glass window’ effect, based on Penrose tiling, makes up the 10 windows that surround the main dome. You’ll be amazed that this entire maze is made up of just one material: plastic.

The finished product takes over about 150 feet of Grand Park in Downtown Los Angeles, rising at about 3 stories high. Created entirely by plastic, this colorful maze took approximately 6 months to build with over 55 constructors.

With the cool Fall season approaching, this experience is the perfect way to spend your weekend in the heart of downtown. With dining areas and food trucks nearby, visitors are welcomed to relax and enjoy the park outdoors.

Starting with only 5 days of public viewing, this rare showcase is only available for 3 more days. The event is FREE, but ticketing is required. As advance reservations are now sold out, tickets are available via standby. These tickets are available starting at 10am, but it is on a first come, first served basis.

Available dates for viewing:

Friday, September 13: 10am – 6pm (closed from 12pm-2pm for private event)

Saturday, September 14: 10am-6pm

Sunday, September 15: 10am-6pm
