M83 made its debut at the Hollywood Bowl yesterday night, being the show to close KCRW Radio’s World Festival. The crowd gradually filled the stadium with their picnic baskets full of cheese, crackers, and bottles of wine.

Opening the show was Phantogram, an indie pop duo from New York consisting of members Josh Carter and Sarah Barthel. Following the release of their first album, "Eyelid Movies," Phantogram have been constantly on the road to fame appearing in major festivals such as Coachella, Outside Lands, and Sasquatch (just to name a few).

From vocals to playing the keyboard, Barthel won the crowd over with her breathtaking beauty and whispery vocals. Phantogram made their debut with the hit song “When I’m Small,” which got the audience pumped and immediately on their feet once they heard the familiar tune.

With their new single “Black Out Days,” Phantogram is expected to release their new album sometime in late 2013.

Shortly after Phantogram came the headliner everyone gathered to see, M83. With a fully packed stadium, M83 came on stage with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, which was conducted by Joe Trapanese.

Soon into their performance, the crowd started to feel the flow and get up from their seats during "Steve McQueen."

With several guest performers, M83’s Anthony Gonzalez introduced the crowd’s favorite guest as his “favorite kid in the world”. This kid is Zelly Meldal-Johnson, the young girl who tells a story in the beginning of the song “Raconte-Moi Une Histoire.”

Adored by the entire audience and showered with whoops, Meldal-Johnson ended her short performance by skipping around and dancing with each band member. Watching her on stage surely made everyone miss being a kid again.

The two singles that got the entire audience dancing in their seats were “Midnight City” and “Outro.” A live saxophone player came onto stage during “Midnight City” while “Outro” got our attention by the stunning visuals of the Los Angeles lights lit up on screen.

With its ambient tones and soft-spoken vocals, M83 continued to wow their fans during Sunday night’s performance. With their recent album "Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming" released in 2011, we’re still patiently waiting on any news of their new upcoming album.
