While the rest of the world knows North Korea as a locked up, closed to the public, militaristic state with a ruler to match, few can say they actually know anything about the inside of the country.

Few, that is, except for former NBA Star Dennis Rodman.

The two seem to hang out on a more regular basis these days, claiming to be “friends for life” and trying to be good representatives of both nations to each other.

But according to Rodman, being a representative of the United States isn’t his job.

While Rodman had once tweeted to the leader of North Korea to release the jailed U.S. citizen, Kenneth Bae and promised to bring it up again on his second trip to foreign nation. This however, did not seem to be the case when Rodman arrived in Beijing’s airport, shouting expletives at any reporter who questioned him on the matter.

From The Independent:

“Upon his return to Beijing Airport, reporters asked Rodman if he had lobbied in the defence of Kenneth Bae, the US citizen of Korean heritage who was arrested in November and sentenced to 15 years of hard labour for what Pyongyang described as hostile acts against the state.

"Guess what?", Rodman replied, "that's not my job to ask about Kenneth Bae."

"Ask (President Barack) Obama about that. Ask Hillary Clinton," he added, perhaps unaware that John Kerry - not Clinton - is now the US Secretary of State.

Wielding an unlit cigar and wearing what looked like a glittery silver beret, Rodman showed off photos of himself with Kim, hugging, laughing and chatting over a meal.”

He continued to show off proof of his friendship with the Kim Jong Un while expressing his lack of enthusiasm for anyone who would disapprove of the man.

At one point he was held back from reporters by his entourage after throwing objects in response to their questions.
