Welcome to Neon Tommy's official weekly college football picks column. Unfortunately, we missed out on last week's slate of games, but our experts will be making their picks for the top college football games every week.

#9 Florida at #24 Miami

Max Meyer (@trojanmax12): Miami 24, Florida 17

Even though Florida's defense is a force to be reckoned with, Miami running back Duke Johnson is a bonafide playmaker. Also, the fact that this game is being played in Coral Gables along with the fact that I don't trust Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel are two more reasons why Miami will win this game.

Gabe Quintela (@gabequintela11): Florida 24, Miami 17

Miami running back Duke Johnson, is a pivotal player in the Canes offense but he hasn’t fared well against strong rush defenses. Last year against Florida State Johnson only ran for 27 yards on 9 carries. That is why Florida’s rush defense is going to be the difference in this game. They held Toledo to 50 yards rushing in their season opener and the Gators' defense isn’t showing any signs of slowing down.

Mike Piellucci (@mikelikessports): Florida 24, Miami 14

Al Golden is the best coach nobody talks enough about and I have no doubt that he'll have the Hurricanes back on the upper echelon of college football, assuming the U isn't hit hard by NCAA sanctions first. Even now, players like Duke Johnson, Tracy Howard and Stacy Coley are the kind of athletes that any program in America - and most certainly the Gators - would love to have on their roster. The problem is that type of talent runs few and far between on Miami's roster, whereas Florida is overflowing with them. That talent gap plus Will Muschamp's defense are too much to pick against, even with this game being in Coral Gables.

Marc Sallinger (@marcsallinger): Miami 17, Florida 14

Little can be said about either team’s Week One victory due to the strength of their opponents, or the lack thereof. Florida beat Toledo 24-6 but continued an impressive 13-0 record when rushing for 150 yards or more. Miami blew out Florida Atlantic University 34-6 with running back Duke Johnson posting an impressive performance, running for 186 yards. The battle for Florida should be a close one, but I see the Hurricanes pulling out an upset at home over the Gators.

Darian Nourian (@dariannourian24): Miami 21, Florida 17

Behind running back Duke Johnson and a "white-out" home crowd, No. 24 Miami should be able to pull off the upset against No. 9 Florida. Both teams debuted stellar defenses, allowing only six points in their first game, but one team is going to have to take their first loss of the season on Saturday.

Andrew Tweedy (@nyy_baseball): Florida 28, Miami 20

Florida's deep backfield coupled with their huge defensive line will power the Gators to victory, in spite of a strong performance by senior Miami QB Stephen Morris.  Florida QB Jeff Driskel will use his experience from his solid season last year to get the best of Miami in the latest edition of this heated rivalry.

#6 South Carolina at #11 Georgia

Max: Georgia 24, South Carolina 21

Here we go again. Georgia coach Mark Richt is once again being unfairly put on the hot seat by the Georgia fanbase early in the season. The whispers will turn into screams if Georgia loses their second consecutive game to start the season. I think Georgia's balance on offense, even though Malcolm Mitchell is out for the season, will allow the Bulldogs to prevail.

Gabe: South Carolina 30, Georgia 24

Georgia’s national championship hopes are already dwindling with their loss to Clemson last week. Georgia’s main problem was handling the Tigers' pass rush and with a fired-up Jadeveon Clowney playing against them, that’s a bad problem to have.

Mike: South Carolina 31, Georgia 23

The last four years of South Carolina football have been building to this season. I love this team, which features a deep group of skill players, the best offensive line Spurrier has had in Columbia and a truly nasty front seven. I don't know if they, or anyone, can beat Alabama. But I do know that they can take down a Georgia team that has all sorts of questions on defense and just lost Malcolm Mitchell for the season.

Marc: South Carolina 24, Georgia 17

In a game where all eyes will be focused on South Carolina’s star defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, and his attempt to rebound after a disappointing week one performance against North Carolina, Aaron Murray and the Georgia Bulldogs will look to avoid starting off their season 0-2. Losing Malcolm Mitchell will undoubtedly hurt Georgia in their passing game. Ultimately the battle in the trenches will be the key reason why South Carolina comes out with the win.

Darian: Georgia 28, South Carolina 21

No.11 ranked Georgia narrowly lost their first game of the season to Clemson last week, 38-35, but I think that they will be able to bounce back at home against No. 6 ranked South Carolina. If the Bulldogs take it as the must-win game that it is, they should prevail behind the superb quarterback play of Heisman candidate Aaron Murray.

Andrew: South Carolina 24, Georgia 17

With Malcolm Mitchell, Georgia's most dangerous WR target, done for the season with a knee injury, expect Georgia QB Aaron Murray to feel the pressure from Jadeveon Clowney and the powerful South Carolina defense without his favorite passing target on the field.

#14 Notre Dame at #17 Michigan

Max: Michigan 28, Notre Dame 24

Here's a game between two teams that the public is much higher on than I am. I see both of these teams losing at least games each. However, in this game, quarterback play will be the difference. Devin Gardner is electric and will give the Fighting Irish defense fits.

Gabe: Michigan 30, Norte Dame 21

Michigan is a hard team to beat at the Big House, especially with Devin Gardner at quarterback.

Mike: Michigan 34, Notre Dame 31

Everything we were told to believe about Denard Robinson's game-changing ability is actually true about Devin Gardner's. Gardner isn't quite the athlete Shoelace was, of course, but he's every bit the leader, only bigger and with the ability to actually pass the ball. So while I'm not all that high on this Michigan team, I buy into Gardner and that he'll be able to produce a Robinson-esque performance against the Irish.

Marc: Michigan 28, Notre Dame 21

In Week One, the Notre Dame defense allowed Temple quarterback Connor Reilly to run for 65 yards. Michigan is not Temple; and although Michigan QB Devin Gardner isn’t Dernard Robinson, he is still a dual-threat quarterback that can pick apart defenses with both his arms and speed. He has accumulated for 227 rushing yards since his freshman year. Gardner has impressive passing statistics as well, having only been picked off eight times in 174 career passing attempts. Comparably, Notre Dame QB Tommy Rees has been picked off 24 times in the same span. Michigan wins the final game of this rivalry in a close one.

Darian: Michigan 30, Notre Dame 27

No. 17 ranked Michigan began its season with a 59-9 rout of Central Michigan and now have a chance to knock off their rivals, No. 14 ranked Fighting Irish at home. The Wolverines should come out with a great amount of electricity, especially on offense. Last weekend, they went off for 463 yards of total offense and 242 yards on the ground.

Andrew: Michigan 24, Notre Dame 13

The Wolverines will regain bragging rights in this Midwest rivalry after a crushing loss to Notre Dame a season ago.  The Notre Dame defense won't be able to contain the speedy Michigan QB Devin Gardner, and the Irish offense will be thwarted by a strong Michigan defensive line.

Washington State at #25 USC

Max: USC 30, Washington State 17

A key factor that a lot of people are underestimating is that Washington State is playing a second consecutive road game. Traveling from Auburn to Los Angeles in a week is excruciating. Even though the Cougars like to throw the ball, Connor Halliday throws interceptions. He threw three last week to an Auburn defense that had two the entire season last year. Lane Kiffin's seat gets a little cooler once again.

Gabe: USC 28, Washington State 10

Marqise Lee is set for a breakout game after having played poorly in Hawaii. If either Cody Kessler or Max Wittek can step, and the USC defense plays like they did last week, USC will be too much for the Cougars to deal with, especially at the Coliseum.

Mike: USC 31, Washington State 20

Cornerback was the weakest position on the roster even before starters Kevon Seymour and Anthony Brown got hurt against Hawaii, so this won't be a cakewalk against Mike Leach's Air Raid offense. But USC has the advantage on both lines and the quarterback, whoever it is, has no shortage of superior athletes to throw to. The Trojans move to 2-0.

Marc: USC 24, Washington State 10

The Trojans will look to begin the season 2-0 after an average yet effective performance against Hawaii in week 1. USC has beaten Washington State 34 of the past 38 times they’ve met, and with Cody Kessler officially named the starter, the team can focus on beating a Cougar team that was just 3-9 last year. Star wide receiver Marquise Lee caught 8 of the10 passes thrown towards him against the Rainbows and will look to maintain those stats into this week. Although Silas Redd is still injured, both Tre Madden and Justin Davis have stepped up, rushing for a combined 183 yards against Hawaii. If the Trojan defense plays as they did in week 1, USC should cruise to a 2-0 start to the season.

Darian: USC 42, Washington State 7

Although Cody Kessler has been given the nod to start Saturday's game, the USC quarterback situation still remains in limbo. However, if Clancy Pendergast's Trojan defense plays the way it did against Hawaii, it's going to be a long day for first-year head coach Mike Leach and his Cougars.

Andrew: USC 38, Washington State 13

After a solid first half by Wazzou QB Connor Halliday, look for USC's defense to make adjustments in the second half. Marqise Lee will bounce back from a shaky start to his season against Hawaii last week and carry the Trojan offense.

#15 Texas at BYU

Max: Texas 27, BYU 10

Even though BYU's defense was outstanding last year, the talent differential between these two teams is astounding. Texas proves why they are the class of the Big 12, and they will have an easy time dispatching BYU.

Gabe: Texas 28, BYU 14

David Ash and Texas offense let loose last week while BYU struggled against Virginia.

Mike: Texas 38, BYU 17

The story of this one can be summed up in three words: Too much talent. Time will tell whether this group of Longhorns is the one that will get Mack Brown back to the top or sign his walking papers in Austin, but for this week, at least, they'll overwhelm the slower and smaller Cougars.

Marc: Texas 35, BYU 17

Although BYU had the third-ranked scoring defense and total defense last year, a 19-16 loss to Virginia in week 1 wasn’t the way they were looking to start their season. BYU quarterback Taysom Hill struggled against Virginia throwing a pivotal fourth-quarter interception and completing only 13-of-40 passing attempts. Although Texas started off slow in week 1 against New Mexico State, they rallied in the second half to a 56-7 win, posting a school record 715 total yards of offense. I see Texas winning this one handedly.

Darian: Texas 35, BYU 14

After destroying New Mexico State 56-7 in it's season opener, the Texas Longhorns travel up to Provo, Utah to take on the BYU Cougars. Although BYU lost its opener on the road at Virginia 19-16, their defense, which ranked third nationally in 2012, should give the Longhorns some trouble to keep this game close.

Andrew: Texas 27, BYU 14

With the Longhorns trying to reestablish BCS prominence, BYU should be an opponent they handle with relative ease.  If Texas is to dominate this game, expect to see rising star QB David Ash connect with WR Daje Johnson early and often to pace the offense.
