The feeling and images of September 11 continue to weigh heavy for the nation, even more than a decade later. The Los Angeles Fire Department has organized several events throughout the county to commemorate the 12th anniversary of the attacks.

Events, special performances and volunteer opportunities are free and open to the public.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department:

"We hope you can join us for one or more of these events. If that is not possible, we kindly ask you to take time for quiet personal reflection or community service in remembrance of all who were killed in New York, Pennsylvania and Northern Virginia on September 11, 2001."
