Explosions Hit Lebanon’s Second Largest City

The coordinated explosions targeted two mosques where the locals were finishing Friday prayers in the largely Sunni Muslim city.
The blasts, which were the biggest and deadliest in Tripoli since the end of Lebanon’s civil war, have intensified the sectarian strife that has spilled over from the civil war in bordering Syria.
This latest incident comes a week after a car bomb killed at least 24 people in an area of Beirut controlled by the Shia Muslim militant group Hezbollah. Both Hezbollah and radical Sunni groups in Lebanon have sent fighters over the border to support opposing sides in Syria.
