Maine Gov. Paul LePage allegedly said President Obama "hates white people," according to The Daily Beast. Two state lawmakers said they heard the remarks directly.

He allegedly said if Obama highlighted his biracial heritage he would be the best president ever. He claimed Obama has not done this because he hates white people.

"Yeah, he said it," said an anonymous lawmaker. "It was one little thing from a speech, but I think most people there thought it was totally inappropriate."

The comments were made during a Maine Republican Party fundraiser, reports the Press Herald.

LePage is a Tea Party Republican. He has previously compared the IRS to the Gestapo.
