George W. Bush is recovering after undergoing surgery Tuesday. The former president had a stent placed in his heart after his doctor discovered a blocked artery during a physical examination on Monday.

The doctor wanted to address the blockage right away. Freddy Ford, Spokesperson for Bush, said Tuesday, "At the recommendation of his doctors, President Bush agreed to have a stent placed to open the blockage," he said.

Tuesday's surgery went without complication and Bush, 67, is scheduled to return home on Wednesday and to his regular schedule Thursday.
