On Friday, a jury of military officers found Nidal Hasan, suspected Fort Hood shooter, guilty of multiple counts of murder and attempted murder. The mass shooting in 2009 killed 13 people and injured more than 30.

The verdict was expected as Mr. Hasan had admitted to shooting the soldiers who were preparing to deploy to Afghanistan, saying that he was trying to protect fellow Muslims.

Mr. Hasan, who was an Army psychiatrist, was convicted of a total of 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder.

On Monday, a sentencing hearing will be held to decide whether he receives a sentence of life in prison or the death penalty.
