A month long state of emergency has been declared across Egypt, according to a presidential statement announced on state television.

Chaos has yet again erupted as government forces stormed two pro-Morsi sit-ins at about 6am local time on Wednesday morning, killing dozens of people and sparking violent clashes across the country.

Reported death tolls vary wildly. The Muslim Brotherhood says security forces have killed hundreds. The government has rejected this statement. Egypt’s health ministry says 95 are dead and 874 injured.

Britain’s Sky News agency has announced the death of Mick Deane, a camera operator, who was on an assignment in Cairo this morning.

Journalists are being prevented from entering the area and transportation ministry has reportedly shut down trains across the country, reports the Guardian.
