The CIA is acknowledging the existence of Area 51, the Cold War top-secret test site, which has been heavily debated over the last few decades.

Recently declassified documents from the CIA have stated the existence of Area 51, but lack any information about aliens and flying saucers.

The declassified 400 page report titled, “Central Intelligence Agency and Overhead Reconnaissance: The U-2 and Oxcart Programs, 1954-1974” details the governments testing of U-2 spy planes during the cold war. U-2 planes were commonly used around the world by the United States during this era.

The report states that the "High-altitude testing of the U-2 soon led to an unexpected side effect -- a tremendous increase in reports of unidentified flying objects (UFOs). U-2 and later OXCART flights accounted for more than one-half of all UFO reports during the late 1950s and most of the 1960s."

Area 51 has been the subject of many movies and documentaries such as Independence Day and the National Geographic’s, Area 51: Declassified.

The CIA documents revealed the much-debated location for the first time in history. The area is North West of Las Vegas near Groom Lake.
