Several Bombings In Iraq Kill 65 People

A senior Iraqi intelligence official, whose name cannot been revealedaccording to the Washington Post, said that the way the car bombings were executed indicates that al-Qaeda is responsible for these attacks.
There were 12 car bombs and a roadside bomb that went off in Baghdad the day after Iftar, the meal that ends the day of fasting during Ramadan, the Muslim holy month. In fact, since Ramadan began on July 10, more than 250 people have been killed in Iraq.
The most deadly explosion took place in the Baghdad neighborhood of Karrada, which killed nine people.

Besides Baghdad, attacks hit north Iraq as well. Three bombs around the city of Mosul combined to kill two people, including one policeman, and wounded 26 others. These bombs came a day after a suicide bomber killed 20 in a Sunni mosque in north Baghdad.
The 65 casualties on Saturday marks the deadliest day in Iraq since 78 people died from attacks on June 10. Over 520 people have died from all of the attacks this month, Iraq's most violent month since 2008.
