A brush fire that started Saturday has grown to 2,500 acres as of Sunday afternoon and is expected continue to spread over night.

Known as the "Chariot Fire," the fire broke out around 2 p.m. Saturday near Mount Laguna, NBC News reported.

The fast moving fire consumed about 700 acres Saturday evening, drawing crews from multiple agencies to battle the flames. By 5:30 p.m. Sunday, the fire scorched through 2,500 acres and was only 20 percent contained

A total of 26 fire engines, two air tankers, three bulldozers and three helicopters had been battling the fire, as well as additional fire departments that included  Cal Fire, USFS Cleveland NF, CHP and the San Diego Fire Authority.

Evacuations have been ordered at several area campgrounds.

No injuries or structures have been damaged, according to fire officials, though three firefighters sustained injuries fighting the blaze.
