"Glee's" Cory Monteith was found dead in a Vancouver hotel room on July 13th. It was later announced that his death was caused by a heroin overdose along with a mixture of alcohol. The actor played Fox's hit television show's musical heartthrob Finn Hudson, reaching the lives of fans in all places. At the age of 31, the young actor made countless fans feel that he was taken from them too soon. As he joins the many stars who were gone too quickly, we look at previous actor who surprised us with his death--Heath Ledger.

Monteith's death is similar to Ledger's in more than just the fact that the two were actors. At only 28 years old, Heath Ledger was found dead in a hotel room in New York on January 22, 2008. After an autopsy, it was also discovered that he died due to a prescription-drug overdose.

Both men passed away just as they were beginning to heighten their careers--Monteith, after five seasons of a hit television show and and two upcoming movies; and Ledger, making the comeback of a lifetime with his role as Joker in "The Dark Knight." Losing these two at these moments in their careers made all the more impact.

Although these men have similarities in their passings, they were both talented in very different ways. Ledger received an Oscar for his role as Joker, and Monteith sang and danced his way into everyone's hearts. Heath Ledger and Cory Monteith will both be remembered for their many talents in the entertainment industry.
