UPDATE: Various sources have reported that 2 people are dead and approximately 70 injured in the crash landing of Asiana Airlines flight 214 at the San Francisco International Airport. According to KTVU-TV, the San Francisco Fire Department has confirmed the fatalities.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said in a Saturday afternoon news conference that it would conduct a "thorough" investigation into the incident and would invite their South Korean counterparts to participate.  Boeing, the aircraft's manufacturer, would also likely be involved.

SFO also expected two runways to re-open on Saturday, according to KTVU's Twitter account. LAX reported that several flights scheduled to land at SFO have been diverted to Los Angeles.

According to officials at the FAA, an Asiana Airlines flight 214 has crashed while landing at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) early Saturday afternoon.  All 290 passengers and 13 crew members are accounted for. Casualties and injuries are not known at this hour, but emergency and fire officials are on the scene.

The flight originated from Seoul, South Korea yesterday evening and was due to land at San Francisco airport at 11:27am PST. All flights from SFO have been cancelled.  Authorities are also preventing traffic from entering the airport.

Videos and photos from onlookers at SFO show smoke coming from the silver plane, with passengers sliding down emergency slides.  David Eun, a passenger on the plane also took a photo of the crash that showed passengers exiting the plane as it burned on the runway. The tail section of the aircraft appears to not be attached to the fuselage.
