Eight people were injured in an explosion at a gas plant about 40 miles north of Orlando. Of the eight, four were critically injured, reports The Daily Beast.

The gas tanks at the Blue Rhino plant exploded late Monday night.

The plant often takes old propane cylinders, cleans, refurbish and fills them before packaging them for shipping. On Monday, there were 53,000 propane tanks on site, each weighing 20 pounds, according to the Orland Sentinel.

The explosion forced the evacuation of the plant and residents up to a mile away. Nearby roads were filled with pieces of propane canisters.

The fire was likely caused by equipment or human error.

Fire Chief Richard Keith told reporters, "we don't think there was any act of sabotage or anything like that."
