After spending one week in the hospital under serious but critical condition reports are saying that Nelson Mandela is recovering but still admitted to the Pretoria hospital not far from his suburban home.

ABC said that Mandela's grandson Mandla Mandela visited him Friday and said he is "looking good" and "recovering well." His grandson, who was speaking at the funeral of another relative, Florence Mandela, expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of love and support.
According to the New York Times, Mandla spoke to the audience saying, "I thank the nation and the world for the prayers for Madiba, and the doctors and the office of the ANC for keeping the family updated."
94-year-old Mandela, the former South African President, has spent the past week at the hospital. On Thursday, the South African government said Mandela was continuing to recover but still in serious condition.
Mandela has been battling a reoccurring lung infection for the past couple of years. There is no word on when he will be fully recovered or able to leave the hospital.
