Michael Adebolajo Charged With Woolwich Murder

Michael Adebolajo was charged with the murder of soldier Lee Rigby. Additionally, Adebolajo was charged with attempted murder of two police officers and possession of firearms.

Adebolajo, age 28 from Romford, Essex and Michael Adebowale, age 22 from Greenwich, London have both been charged with the murder of Lee Ridby. Adebowale, is scheduled to appear in Old Bailey, London court this Monday.

After being arrested on the scene, Adebolajo, who was shot by police, has spent the last nine days in the hospital.

According to the BBC, “Both Mr Adebowale and Mr Adebolajo were filmed and photographed by witnesses following the attack, which took place on a busy street during the afternoon.”

The investigation into the murder of Rigby has resulted in 12 arrests. Out of the 12, eight have been bailed and two released.

In the past week, the British National Party,  anti-racist demonstrators, and antifascist protesters have been demonstrating outside of Westminister. The protests have casued violence leading to arrests of 58 anti-fascist protesters. 

Lee Rigby's family has commented on the retaliations by stating "Lee would not want people to use his name as an excuse to carry out attacks against others."
