The final additions to the One World Trade Center's spire were added to the building today: a flag and lights. The building is now 1,776 feet tall, ranked as the tallest building in the western hemisphere and the third tallest building in the world. The spire was hoisted onto a work platform and will be permanently attached in the next few weeks.

The One World Trade Center is located on the northwest corner of the site of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, where the twin towers were destroyed. Steven Plate, who is overseeing the construction of the One World Trade Center, stated that the completion of the building via the addition of the spire "will give a tremendous indication to people around the entire region, and the world, that we're back and better than ever."
