A Metro-North train derailed in southwestern Connecticut during rush hour on Friday night. The crash involved about 700 passengers and based off Saturday morning reports injured an estimated 60 people, not 50 as previously reported, with five  currently in critical condition.

The collision occurred when a commuter train in southwestern Connecticut crashed into another train traveling in the opposite direction.

According to NBC The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) arrived Saturday morning to begin a thorough investigation. They were greeted by Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy and other local leaders who were on scene examing the damage and speaking to the public.

Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal said the damage is staggering and told NBC,

" Ribbons on sides of  the cars are torn away like ribbons of cloths."

The extensive damage to the train is causing multiple setbacks for commuters this morning. Amtrak has suspended all trains from Boston to New York in order to investigate the Connecticut crash.

According to Bloomberg the NTSB Chairman, told Bloomberg said it will take time before the Amtrak service is operating between these two destinations.

CNN reported Saturday that in conjunction with the NTSB the Feds will also conduct an investigation into the crash.
