Every other week, writer Mara Hyman takes a look at the latest creations coming from the music video universe. Here are her latest picks:

98 Degrees - "Microphone" (Lyric Video)

I know what you're thinking—is this the return of 90's boy bands? First the Backstreet Boys and New Kids On The Block did their reunion tour and recently came out with new music, and now 98 Degrees is attempting to make a comeback as well. Their latest single "Microphone" is very catchy, but if you read too much into the lyrics it sounds a bit creepy. While they were known as the boy band that didn't dance with popular slower ballads like "Because of You" and "Cherish You," this song is very upbeat which a slight rock-pop edge.

The lyric video could easily have been the actual music video for the song as it surrounds the guys, women, and microphones. Half of the shots show the guys singing into huge microphones and the other half are an advertisement for Empire Rockefeller Vodka and Vintage Champagne. It'll be interesting to see how they change up style and content for the actual music video. Are you happy with the boy band's comeback?

Janelle Monae feat. Erykah Badu - "Q.U.E.E.N."

Well known for her hit single "Tightrope," Janelle Monae is back with her new single off of her next album "Electric Lady." She stays true to her style in the song, which is really jazzy and smooth.

The video is also classic Janelle as she shows off her classic suit uniform. She is surrounded by black and white images as we find her frozen in an exhibit in a museum until the music starts and everyone suddenly comes to life. The backup dancers are wearing striped dresses which blend into a striped background for a cool effect. What do you think about the song?

Alicia Keys - "New Day"

It's been a big comeback year for Alicia Keys. She's back with her new single "New Day," which has a cool mix of R&B and hip hop with strong percussion especially in the end.

The video juxtaposes Alicia jamming out in the streets and her performing the song in a concert on tour. The video has an urban feel filled with people spraying graffiti and smoke as she and her backup dancers jam out in an alley way. What do you think of Alicia's new style? Do you prefer her older hits?

Bon Jovi - "What About Now"

Bon Jovi has been going strong since the '80s and is certainly not leaving the music world anytime soon. With their next single, they do it right with a catchy rock power ballad.

The music video is a compilaiton of clips of the band performing the song at their concerts on tour. We get to see the huge crowds of fans jamming out to the song. The concert includes cool visual effects on the stage with moving wings, roses, hearts and more that seem to pop out on the screen. Are you happy that the band has been going strong for this long?

KT Tunstall - "Feel It All"

It might seem like the singer disappeared for awhile, but she's back! Famous for hits like "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" and "Suddenly I See," KT Tunstall's new track "Feel It All" has a slower, more relaxed feel with a hint of country.

The concept for the video is very different but interesting due to its simplicity. KT and a man stand face to face on a cliff and, throughout the song, she walks to the end of a plank as the man stands at the base. At the end they both face each other, leaving the viewer in a cliff hanger as to whether or not she would jump. Are you happy with KT Tunstall's comeback?
